Military Department

Currently in Kazakhstan, it is possible to pass the military department on a voluntary basis. Admission to the military department is a chance for further enlistment as a military officer. As you know, in order to be enlisted in the reserve, you must pass the army. And graduates of military departments do not need to do this because only those who are not in the reserve are called up for military service.

How do I get into the military department?

How is the training in the military departments?

Military training of students is an additional type of training and consists of theoretical and practical training courses, training camp for male students or professional practice for female students. A total of 588 academic hours are devoted to military training, including 360 academic hours at the university and 228 academic hours at the training camp (professional practice for female students).

Military training under the reserve officers program is carried out on a gratuitous and reimbursable basis. Students who have not passed the conditions of the competition for training on a free of charge basis and recommended by the commission for the selection for training on a free of charge basis shall be involved in training on a reimbursable basis.

Military training of students is organized and carried out by the "military day" method. Taking into account the specifics of training in a particular HEI, another form of military training organization may be established.

Military departments use a point-rating system for evaluating students' academic achievements without implementing credit technology. The Regulation on the point-rating system of students' academic achievements is developed by the military department and approved by the head of the military department. The organizer and supervisor of the educational process is the head of the military department.

The organization of the training process in the military department must ensure the full and effective implementation of all its elements and the qualitative performance of the tasks of training reserve officers.

Students who systematically fail to attend military training classes without a valid reason (more than 24 hours), evade the training sessions or violate discipline in the process of training in military departments and during training sessions, on the presentation of the head of the military department by order of the head of the university, are suspended from military training classes.

Students who have completed the full course of military training, passed the exams and passed the training camp, after receiving a diploma on graduation from the university in accordance with the established procedure are assigned the military rank of "reserve lieutenant". These data are also reflected in the military ticket, which students receive after graduation from the military department.
