Ualikhanov University continues to implement the Jean Monnet module, which was launched in November 2023. During the year, the project team completed all planned tasks. The project coordinators are the head of the project office Serpilis Ismagulova A.E., assistant professor Gerfanova E.F. and associate professor Rakisheva G.M. The project team officially presented the project “European Union: Promoting Cultural Diversity and Tolerance” (Jean Monnet Module “European Union: Promoting Cultural Diversity and Tolerance” (EUDIVE) Project number: 101127635) at the kick-off meeting with the participation of the university administration and representatives of the International Project Management Center, representatives of institutes and schools of the university, heads of departments, teachers.
A project implementation plan and a strategic project quality assurance plan have been developed; normative legal acts and EU policy documents in the field of intercultural education and cultural diversity were studied and analyzed;
a syllabus for the module European Union: Promoting Cultural Diversity and Tolerance (EUDIVE), materials for lectures and practical classes have been developed. The module is aimed at integrating the European experience of intercultural diversity into the educational programs of Ualikhanov University and studying European practices of tolerance and cultural diversity. The syllabus of the module reflects such topics as the concept of “culture” in European studies, European initiatives in the field of tolerance and cultural diversity, intercultural communication, global citizenship, emotional intelligence in intercultural communication, etc. This module is introduced into the educational program “Foreign Language: Two foreign languages”, classes were held for 3rd year students.
As part of the research component of the project, a questionnaire was developed to survey teachers, students and administrative staff, the purpose of which is to determine their level of understanding of tolerance and cultural diversity. The academic year will end with a round table with the participation of students, teaching staff, university administration, representatives of educational institutions of the city and region.
