Water Quality Research Laboratory

The laboratory was opened in 2015 as part of the project 530718-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-UK-TEMPUS-JPCR I WEB "Integrated water circulation management: increasing the ability, qualifications and influence in education and business."

The research laboratory carries out quality control of drinking water, natural waters (surface and underground) for the following indicators: organoleptic, physico-chemical, as well as chemical studies for toxic elements (lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury, iron, copper, nickel and etc.)

In the research laboratory, teachers conduct practical classes for undergraduate students. Undergraduates and doctoral students carry out research work.

Atomic absorption spectrometer "MGA-915MD"

Designed to measure the content of elements (Ag, Al, As, Au, Ba, Be, Bi, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Pd, Pt, Rh, Ru, Se, Sn, Sb, Sr, Ti, V, Zn, etc.) in a wide range of objects: various types of water (drinking, natural, waste, marine), atmospheric air, soils, bottom sediments and sewage sludge, food products and raw materials (including in drinks), biological tissues and liquids (blood, urine), petrochemical products, as well as metals and alloys and other objects. This device has the highest efficiency in the analysis of samples with a complex matrix composition: sea water, blood, urine.

Atomic absorption spectrometer "MGA-915MD" is a full automatic with automatic change of radiation sources and installation of the appropriate resonance lines, there is a turret for 6 lamps (computer adjustment from one element to another without the need for manual adjustment). To enter samples into the MGA-915MD, an autosampler with 55 sample cells is used. The received data can be continuously transmitted to the automated control system for process control. Air analysis is carried out with electrostatic deposition of air aerosols directly in a graphite atomizer. The analysis of mercury in natural waters is carried out using a mercury-hydride attachment. It is possible to carry out direct analysis of drinking, waste and sea waters and bioliquids (without preliminary sample preparation).

The MGA-915MD spectrometer is used in ecology, geological exploration, process control, industrial sanitation, scientific research.
