Shokan Ualikhanov Kokshetau University (Ualikhanov University) is a leading university in the Aqmola region, which has been playing a key role in the region's higher education system for more than 62 years. Over the years, the university has trained more than 50,000 highly qualified specialists for various sectors of the economy of Kazakhstan.
By 2029, the University sees itself as an innovative university that implements global technologies into the regional economy to improve the quality of society life.
The university’s educational portfolio includes 74 bachelor’s degree programs, 42 master’s degree programs, 10 doctoral programs, and 1 residency program.
The University actively implements international academic and scientific projects within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA1 ICM, Erasmus+ KA2 CBHE, American UniCen projects and the British InterLinks project. Special attention is paid to the development of exchange programmes, international cooperation and double-degree academic programs.
The university’s research capacity is growing: in 2025, 16 faculty members earned a PhD degree, 12 researchers completed international internships under the “Bolashak” program, and 9 young researchers are implementing research projects as part of the state initiative “Zhas Galym.” The total funding allocated to the university’s research projects exceeded KZT 1.645 billion in 2025.
The university is ranked 46th in the QS Central Asia Rankings, 781–790th in the QS Asia Rankings, 1052nd in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking 2026, and 1001st in the THE Impact Rankings 2026.
