From May 27 to 30, 2024, the Rector of Ualikhanov University, M.K. Syrlabayev, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, N.A. Medetov, and the Head of the "Serpilis" Project Office, A.E. Ismagulova, participated in a conference dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the founding of Universities of the Third Age at the University of Toulouse 1 Capitole in France. The invitation came from the AIUTA President, F. Velas, as Ualikhanov University has been a member of AIUTA since 2023.
The goal of the conference was to unite Universities of the Third Age from around the world.
At the official opening, Rector Syrlabayev M.K. delivered a welcoming speech and presented the experience of third-age education at Ualikhanov University and in other Kazakhstani universities.
The conference was attended by representatives of the International Association of Universities of the Third Age (AIUTA), as well as rectors of universities from various countries, including China, Nigeria, Ukraine, Italy, Turkey, Congo, Spain, Portugal, Slovakia, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Tunisia, the United Kingdom, and others.During the trip, meetings were held with representatives of various educational organizations to discuss further cooperation with leading French universities. Participation in this conference and the meetings held marked an important step towards expanding and strengthening international cooperation in the field of third-age education. The exchange of experiences with colleagues from different countries and the discussion of best practices will help establish a solid foundation for the further development and implementation of innovative teaching methods.Ualikhanov University's active engagement with AIUTA and other international partners will make a significant contribution to the global educational community and ensure access to quality education for people of all ages.
