On April 11, 2024, at UALIKHANOV UNIVERSITY, an international roundtable discussion on "Education for the Third Age: Challenges, Opportunities, and Perspectives" took place as part of the Science Month activities.
This event was organized by the "Silver University" project, a social initiative of UALIKHANOV UNIVERSITY, which has been educating elderly people in Kokshetau for the past 3 years.
The Silver University was established on November 3, 2021, based on a model developed by the Pedagogical Innovations Laboratory.
Last year, our Silver University became a member of the International Association of Universities of the Third Age and gained like-minded partners from similar organizations around the world supporting the concept of Life Long Learning.
The meeting was organized in a hybrid format, bringing together representatives of educational organizations from Canada, the UK, Ireland, Russia, and Australia.
Speakers shared information about educational models in their countries, approaches, and initiatives.
Notably, in Australia, Universities of the Third Age (U3A) operate thanks to volunteers, while in the UK, three formats are implemented - French, British, and Chinese. In Russia, sessions with silver listeners are conducted by students and postgraduates of universities, etc.
Participants asked each other questions, exchanged opinions, and impressions. The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere, leaving many positive emotions and new ideas for implementation.
