Vice-Rector for research and Interaction with the Region at Ualikhanov University Aigul Zhakupova participated in the AIUTA Asia International Conference, which was held on April 1-2, 2025 in Hong Kong.

The conference was held under the auspices of the International Association of Universities of the Third Age (AIUTA) and Hong Kong Metropolitan University, with active involvement from the association’s president, Professor François Vellas.

  • Conference Topic: “Lifelong Learning for Older Adults in the Digital Age”
  • Participants: More than 100 speakers from 19 countries, including China, Singapore, Malaysia, Great Britain, Finland and others.
  • The discussion focused on the global growth of the elderly population (more than 20% by 2050) and the need to develop lifelong learning (LLL) for people 60+. Key focus:
  • Developing digital skills and computer literacy among elderly people
  • Using AI and digital tools in teaching
  • Creating digital educational platforms

On April 3-4, 2025, together with members of the AIUTA board, A.Zhakupova visited several educational centers for adult education in the cities of Macau and Shenzhen.

Most countries have already adopted state programs for the development of LLL, and universities of the third age (U3A) presented their successful cases. New ideas and best practices presented at the conference open up prospects for the development of LLL in Kazakhstan. Ualikhanov University continues to explore new ways to improve the accessibility of education for all age groups.
