Student memo "How to prepare for a session"
"It's not about running fast, it's about running out early"
Rabelais
Preparation for the examination session and passing exams and tests is a very important period in the workstudent. The main thing in preparation for the session is the repetition of all the material, course or subject in which you need to take the exam. Only he has time who knows how to repeat well the material that was listened to at lectures, outlined and fixed in independent classes
When preparing for exams, remember:
- It is necessary to prepare for the session from the first days of the semester: do not miss lectures, work on fixing the lecture material, perform all practical and laboratory work.
- It is necessary to start repeating and summarizing the material long before the session (about a month).
- It is recommended to prepare for the exam every day in the same room and at the same workplace, because in this case, an associative relationship is established between the environment and the information processing process.
- You should start the repetition by reading the notes. After reading carefully the material on the subject, proceed to a thorough repetition on topics and sections. At this stage of repetition, you should use the textbook and the additional literature recommended by the teacher. There is no need to limit when repeating only notes.
5. Repeating material on topics, it is necessary to achieve its distinct assimilation. It is recommended to use such techniques:
a) tell the material to yourself or aloud;
b) ask yourself various questions and answer them (apply self-control);
c) make additional notes, diagrams to help summarize the material;
d) tell repeated material to his comrades, answer their questions;
e) repeating and summarizing, write down everything incomprehensible, emerging questions in a notebook and be sure to find out them onconsultations;
f) repetition, basically, must be completed the day before the exam, so that the repeated and fixed material is "deposited" in consciousness and memory.
Before exams:
- avoid excessive mental overload work, adhere to the regime, alternate work and rest;
- don't stay up past midnight. Keep the dorm room quiet, clean and tidy. During your rest, do not interfere with preparing comrades;
- on the day preceding the exam, it is better to take a walk somewhere quiet (park, forest) until bedtime, gather your thoughts;
- be sure to have breakfast in the morning. Then you will come to the exam cheerful and confident in your abilities;
- after passing the exam, devote the rest of the day to rest, go to the cinema or to the stadium. But don't forget to prepare everything for work the next day.
Do not despair if you received the wrong grade on the exam that you were counting on. Although the exam to some extent and"lottery," but the grade always, as a rule, corresponds to the level of knowledge that you showed on the exam.
Remember the old jokey expression: "In the exam, a student has no greater enemy than the student himself."
All these tips will allow you to thoroughly master knowledge, successfullypass tests and exams, while maintaining normal health. And for those whowill try to follow the path of least resistance in teaching, and look outsidethemselves for the reasons for their failures, you can say:
"Work systematically and hard! Then you will succeed! "
Psychologist's tips "How to behave in an exam"
Stress levels are significantly increased in oral exams, when psychological stability, speech proficiency, and the ability to correctly build your answer and demonstrate your knowledge are crucial. Somewhat less stress on written exams.
Written exam behavior
- if you feel that panic is taking hold of you, immediately tell yourself "Stop!" The word must be spoken aloud as a command;
- always remember: everything that happens in your body is completely controlled by your thoughts, you just need to choose the right phrase that programs yourconsciousness, for example: "I am calm," "I will easily answer all questions," "I know everything";
- then normalize your breathing: several timestake a deep breath and a slow exhale. You have prepared for the exam, now is the time to realize your knowledge;
- try not to react to distractions (sounds and movement in the audience, etc.) and focus as much as possible on the work performed;
- look at the entire test to understand what type of tasks it contains, this will help you tune in to work;
- take your time with the answers, read the question carefully to the end in order to fully understand its meaning;
- if you do not know the answer to the question or are not sure of it, skip it and mark it so that you can return to it later;
- if he could not answer the question within the allotted time, he can only rely on his intuition and indicate the most likely option.
Oral exam behavior
- Do not be alarmed if it turns out that you do not know the ticket very well. Make the most of everything stored in yourmemory information on ticket issues. Focus your attention not on what you don't know, but on what you can say;
- going to answer the ticket, setting yourself up by repeating the appropriate self-hypnosis formula several times,for example: "I can speak calmly, confidently and intelligibly,""I will answer all questions correctly";
- posture when answering should be free and natural. Try not to show your excitement: the one who is less worried knows more. Do not hide your gaze, install eye contact with the teacher. So you can control the situation and show that you are not afraid. The gaze must be attentive and mobile. Be confident, but not cheeky;
- keep in mind that the teacher will react more favorably to a clear cheerful presentation of even a few theses than to a lengthy monologue presented by a timid confused whisper. Take your answer as thoughts out loud;
- if you are fully prepared for the answer, but at the decisive moment with excitement you seem to have a tongue stuck to your palate and you cannot bind two words, stop for a few seconds! Catch your breath, focus and start talking more slowly: fast but incoherent speech will not give a good result.
Keep things in perspective. At the moment, exams seem to you the most significant event, but from the point of view of your whole future life, this is just a solution to another life task. Excitement, whether it is caused by an upcoming exam or other important event, is quite natural. The main thing is that it does not "overlap the edge" and does not turn into a panic, but allows you to mobilize your forces and achieve the best result.
Good luck with the exams!
