The MOOC center was opened as part of the EU ERASMUS + KA2 585761-EPP-1-2017-1-FI-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP projects “Increasing competence in sustainable waste management in universities of Russia and Kazakhstan” (EduEnvi) and EU ERASMUS +|KA2|CBHE KUTEL “Universities of Kazakhstan for improving processes quality assurance in education using new technologies”.
The objectives of these projects includes the development and implementation of new electronic educational programs in the higher education system and the promotion of reform and modernization of higher education through the introduction of a national quality assurance system in education using innovative technologies, the introduction of accreditation standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure the quality of courses and curricula at the national and international level.
The tasks of the MOOC center includes:
The MOOC center has 3 rooms for recording online courses, equipped with modern technology. The first cabinet is a studio for recording lectures on the humanitarian direction of the EduEnvi project using light and a green for effects and changing the background. The second and third studio for the physics and mathematics direction of the Kutel project. The studio has special lights, the camera and computer for processing and editing material. A transparent board for writing down formulas, tasks, etc. with the help of markers filled with special paint. Studios can also perform any work regarding video, photo and sound recording.
As of 2021, since the beginning of the year, the center has recorded more than 138 video lectures on 9 online courses, of which 2 courses on the topic "Environmental Risks" were posted on the moocs.kz platform and successfully completed by those wishing to receive a certificate.
In the 2021-2022 academic year, it is planned to carry out further work on the development and implementation of massive open online courses, their inclusion in the educational process and the active involvement of a wide audience of students in open education
