The work of the Institute is carried out within the framework of a long-term comprehensive program, the objectives of which are:

• replenishment and systematization of the source base on the history and culture of the Yesil-Kokshe-Nur region;
• development of methods for processing archival materials, prospective transfer of the existing database to electronic media, creation of photo, audio and video libraries;
• preparation of scientific articles on the problems of microhistoric research in the field of regional history of the Akmola region;
• organization and holding of scientific and practical conferences on the main areas of the Institute's work;
• assistance to teachers, undergraduates and students in the organization of research and development on the subject of the institute;
• participation in grant competitions on the subject of the institute;
• improvement of expositions and preparation of thematic exhibitions for historical museums of the city, region;
• participation in meetings of scientific councils at museums, APK, local history society, Association of historians at the Local History Museum of Akmola region;
• approbation of programs and methods of educational work with children and youth in the direction of historical research;
• implementation of scientific relations with institutions working on related issues.
• participation in competitions, Olympiads, scientific projects.
