From May 20 to 23, 2025, the University of Genoa hosted the third and final training session of the ESGCA project — a concluding event aimed at fostering international academic cooperation and enhancing the qualifications of university faculty and administrators from Central Asia.
The official proceedings began with a welcome speech by Professor Nicoletta Dacrema, First Vice-Rector of the University of Genoa. She was followed by the Rector Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau University — Marat Syrlybayev.
The training program was tailored to the current needs of universities in the region, with a focus on developing new academic courses, retraining specialists, and integrating ESG principles — environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate governance — into educational practice.
The program also included a visit to the Savona campus — a former military base transformed into an environmentally sustainable university center that is now part of the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN).
The final ESGCA training became a significant stage in strengthening the institutional capacity of higher education institutions in the region, gave the participants practical tools to implement the ESG approach in education, and became the basis for the conclusion of the Networking Agreement - the next step of the project.
