From March 23 to 28, a training seminar on "Environmental Social Governance (ESG) - European Experience" was held at "Lucian Blaga" University in Sibiu, Romania.
On the second day of the seminar, we visited Continental Sibiu, a company specializing in the development and production of electronic control units for automobiles.
Continental's environmental strategy is based on climate protection and energy efficiency, aimed at reducing the impact of harmful substances on the environment and promoting the rational use of resources.
Additionally, as part of the seminar, we attended lectures from leading European scientists, where we discussed key aspects of social sustainability and ESG. The topics covered included:
- Building sustainable communities and the impact of the academic environment on regional development (Prof. Agostino Massa, UNIGE)
- Social sustainability and ESG in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (Prof. Adina Pintea, ULBS)
- The impact of ESG on reducing inequality through education and research (Prof. Diana Spulber, UNIGE)
- Sustainability in construction and the use of life cycle assessment to minimize environmental impact (Prof. Reka Witmanova, STUBA)
The seminar provided valuable knowledge and deep insights into the role of ESG in sustainable development. The discussions addressed key aspects of environmental, social, and corporate responsibility, emphasizing their importance for modern business and society.
We thank the University of Sibiu for organizing the event, and all the speakers for their inspiring presentations and valuable recommendations!
