561969-EPP-1-2015-1-DE-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP

The majority of agricultural rural areas in the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan are characterized by dramatic changes in the agricultural and food sectors associated with privatization, modernization, and increasing differences between large-scale agricultural holdings and small-scale farms. The importance of rural development and the need to develop a perspective for agricultural land use is recognized by both policy and education.

In this regard, there is a lack of sustainable development strategies and integrated approaches at the regional or local level, as well as modern methods and qualified people to evaluate and further develop agro-ecosystem services, which consist not only of agricultural products, but also of environmental and social services. It is necessary to train and train specialists to adopt theoretical development concepts for specific local conditions, access (international) experience, and apply modern methods to assess agro-ecosystems and natural resources and to plan agricultural land use and management.

Therefore, the goal of the proposed SARUD project is:

  1. to develop a professional master's program in sustainable agriculture and rural development, taking into account the demand for specialists in public services, local and regional authorities, private service providers and enterprises; to develop and implement practice-oriented training programs by three Russian universities representing different regions and three universities in the Russian Federation. North Kazakhstan region together with partners in local working groups.
  2. situation analysis and experiences at the local and regional levels are enriched and used through building a knowledge platform in the field of sustainable agriculture and integrative rural development, involving national network partners.
  3. Through the project activities, the training of competencies for the agricultural sector and other faculties of education and their interregional network will be strengthened.
