2026 - The Year of Volunteers: A New Stage for Volunteerism at Ualikhanov University
The initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to declare 2026 the Year of Volunteers highlights the growing importance of civic engagement and a culture of mutual support in modern society. In this context, the volunteer movement at Ualikhanov University is demonstrating steady growth and expanding its impact.
Today, several active volunteer organizations operate within the university, including “Meiirim,” “QAZMED JASTARY,” “QamQor,” and the “Youth Parliament.” These organizations play a vital role in fostering social responsibility, leadership skills, and active citizenship among students.
Two key meetings with university volunteers were recently held, during which the results of 2025 were reviewed and strategic priorities for 2026 were outlined. Discussions focused on advancing social, environmental, and healthcare initiatives, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and strengthening anti-corruption volunteer efforts.
As part of these meetings, students presented newly established volunteer groups in four university dormitories: Dormitory No. 1 - “Senim,” Dormitory No. 2 - “Zhanashyr Zhurek,” Dormitory No. 4 - “Shuaq,” and Dormitory No. 1 - “Bir Zhurek.” This initiative aims to further strengthen the culture of volunteerism within the student community and promote values of mutual support and solidarity.
In addition, the university officially launched the internal competition “Volunteer of the Year - 2026,” designed to identify outstanding volunteer practices and recognize the most active and dedicated students.
Importantly, the work of university volunteers extends far beyond campus. They actively participate in major events across Kokshetau and the Akmola region, providing support to socially vulnerable groups. Their contributions have been repeatedly recognized by city and regional authorities.
Volunteers of Ualikhanov University are more than just active students - they are socially responsible individuals driven by compassion, commitment, and a genuine desire to make a difference. We are proud of you.
