On June 6-7, 2024, with the support of the US Embassy in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Association of English Teachers, together with Ualikhanov University and the Association of English Teachers of Akmola region, held the International XX Anniversary Teachers Conference of the English Language “KazTEA” “Transformative Learning in Kazakhstan Education Context” at Ualikhanov University.
The purpose of the conference: improving the quality of education in the era of digitalization and discussing pedagogical and technical challenges for the introduction of blended teaching /learning, taking into account the cognitive skills of students and their needs within the framework of the national project “Quality Education”, “Educated Nation”.

.At the conference, the participants made presentations in 9 sections, the format of work in the sections was a demonstration of innovative techniques, master classes, round tables and exhibitions of the participants' works. This anniversary event has become not only a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, but also a unique opportunity for the professional growth of each participant, enriching the methodological arsenal and expanding the professional horizons of English language teachers.
Themes of the sections - Emergent Educational Methodologies and Inclusive Education, effective ways of Lesson Study and Action Research, benefits and challenges of STEAM, Diversity of Cultures and Global Competences in teaching English, Transfunctional Teacher’s Role, and strategies of integrating Media Literacy into EL training. The conference was attended by more than 240 teachers and lecturers from different cities of Kazakhstan, including Kyzylorda, Kostanay, Almaty, Kokshetau, Petropavlovsk, Astana, Shymkent, Oskemen, Karaganda, Semey, Aktobe, Taraz, Uralsk, Pavlodar, etc., and from foreign countries - Turkey, Uzbekistan, Russia, the USA, also English language Fellows and English Language Specialist John Kotnarowski.
Within the framework of the conference, the results of the training "Integration of media literacy into English language teaching" were tested, which took place on June, 5th at the IT boarding lyceum "Bilim - Innovation", Shchuchinsk. The training was prepared by Maral Aitmagambetova, a media coach, and facilitated in English by E.V. Moiseeva, a senior lecturer at Shokan Ualikhanov University, and Zh.M. Aubakirova, an English teacher at NIS FMN, as well as Kevin McCauhgey, Director of the Regional Office of English Language Programs, U.S. Embassy, Moscow Tashkent, English language specialists - EL Fellows, Ghadah Rahman, Kae Bradley.
The training participants deepened their knowledge on aspects of media literacy: manipulation and its types, deepfake, propaganda, etc. They also learned about the methods of teaching these aspects, which they implemented in their master classes and demonstrated to the participants of the conference “Transformative Learning in Kazakhstan Education Context”, June 6-7 at the Shokan Ualikhanov University in Kokshetau.
