From July 30 to August 15, 2025, Associate Professor Sabitova D.S. and Senior Programmer of the Digitalization Department Almussayev O.S. took part in the CISTRAT International Training Workshop “AI Policies and Practices”, organized by the International Research and Training Center for Science and Technology Strategy (CISTRAT) under the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development (CASTED) — a UNESCO Category II Center.The program, supported by UNESCO, aims to promote the development of national strategies in science, technology, and innovation (STI), particularly in the context of the rapid growth of AI. The workshop gathered representatives from 15 countries, creating a platform for sharing experiences on AI regulation, STI policy development, international cooperation, and sustainable development.
The training included:
• lectures by leading Chinese scholars and practitioners (CASTED, iFLYTEK, Alibaba Cloud, Ministry of Science and Technology of China);
• field visits to key sites and tech hubs:
🔹 Didi Chuxing — AI in intelligent transportation;
🔹 Xiaomi Motor Factory — automotive manufacturing and AI innovations;
🔹 Zhongguancun Science Park — hub for industrial AI;
🔹 Xiong’an New Area — large-scale AI urban development project;
🔹 Yingli Energy — solar panel development and production;
🔹 Lizhong Research Institute — materials science and industrial innovations;
🔹 Great Wall Motor Group — R&D center, labs, and showrooms;
🔹 Julli Group — heavy machinery technologies.
The acquired knowledge and international partnerships will serve as a foundation for advancing Kazakhstan’s science, education, and digital transformation, as well as strengthening its role in global sustainable development initiatives.
