Silver University: The First Online Meeting of U3A Ualikhanov University and Hong Kong Metropolitan University Participants
On March 13, 2026, the first online meeting of participants from the Universities of the Third Age at U3A Ualikhanov University and Hong Kong Metropolitan University took place. The event was organized within the framework of the existing memorandum of cooperation between the two universities and became an important step in developing international collaboration in education for senior learners.
The programme included participants’ introductions, an interactive bingo game, and presentations of tourist attractions from Kazakhstan and Hong Kong. The online conference was moderated by Crystal Chen from Hong Kong. She noted an interesting feature of the participant groups: most of the participants from Kazakhstan were women, while the Hong Kong group was mainly represented by men.
Participants from Hong Kong Metropolitan University also congratulated their Kazakh colleagues on the upcoming Nauryz holiday.
The preparation and organization of the event were made possible with the support of Erkesh Rakhymzhanov, Head of the International Cooperation Department, and Balgyn Turgumbayeva, an English language instructor.
It is noteworthy that the meeting was conducted entirely in English, which enabled participants to communicate directly and exchange experiences.
As a continuation of cooperation, the universities plan to exchange educational programmes for participants of the Universities of the Third Age. This format of collaboration will contribute to strengthening academic and cultural ties and enriching the educational experience of senior learners.
