On 16 February 2026, a guest lecture on internet fraud and dropper schemes in Kazakhstan was delivered to the participants of the Silver University at Ualikhanov University.The event was organized by E.N. Myrzakhanov, lecturer of the Department of Law, as part of efforts to enhance the legal and digital literacy of senior citizens.Kaliulin Omar, Senior Operative Officer of the Department of Economic Investigations, was invited as the guest speaker. He outlined the most common internet fraud schemes, identified key indicators of unlawful activities, and provided practical examples from his professional experience. Up-to-date statistics on preventive and enforcement measures against such crimes were also presented.During the discussion, participants shared observations regarding possible dropper-related activities in public transport. In particular, they noted cases where young individuals ask strangers to pay their fare and then offer to transfer the amount via the Kaspi Bank mobile application using a phone number. The speaker explained the potential risks of such situations and provided practical recommendations for safe behaviour.Although participants are generally aware of existing threats, many admitted feeling anxious when receiving calls from unknown numbers. The audience expressed their gratitude to the Department of Law for organizing a timely and informative meeting.
