Ualikhanov University Hosts Awareness Meeting on Combating Cyber and Telephone Fraud
On 20 February, a professional dialogue meeting dedicated to combating internet and telephone fraud was held at Ualikhanov University. The event brought together faculty members and university staff and featured the participation of the Head of the Police Department of Kokshetau, N.Zh. Aktanov.
The meeting focused on raising awareness of the growing risks associated with cyber fraud and telephone scams, which have become increasingly sophisticated in recent years. Law enforcement representatives outlined the most common fraud schemes, including impersonation of bank or security service employees, fraudulent messages promising financial rewards or compensation, deceptive communications via messengers and social media platforms, and loan scams involving the misuse of personal data.
Participants were advised to adhere to basic principles of digital and financial safety,
including refraining from sharing personal data, bank card details, or verification codes with third parties;
avoiding suspicious links and unverified applications;
relying only on official information sources;
and promptly reporting any suspicious activity to law enforcement authorities.
The session was conducted in an open and interactive format, allowing university staff to engage directly with experts, ask questions, and receive practical guidance on protecting themselves and their families in the digital space.
The event aimed to strengthen legal awareness, promote a culture of information security, and enhance cooperation between the university and law enforcement agencies in preventing cybercrime.
