Currently, Natalya Vladimirovna Baranovskaya is a Professor in the Department of Geology at the School of Earth Resources Engineering, Research Division, Tomsk Polytechnic University.

Brief biographical outline

Born on March 9, 1970, in the village of Zyryanskoye, Tomsk region. Married, has one child. From 1977 to 1987, she studied at the secondary school of the village of Sayga, Tomsk region. In 1987, she enrolled in the Siberian State Medical University in Tomsk, where she studied until 1990. She then continued her education at Tomsk State Pedagogical University (1990–1991) and later enrolled in Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, where she studied from 1991 to 1996. In 1999, she entered the graduate school of Tomsk Polytechnic University, specializing in "Geoecology." In December 2003, she successfully defended her candidate dissertation titled: “Elemental Composition of Biological Materials and Its Use in Identifying Anthropogenically Modified Territories (on the example of the southern part of the Tomsk region). In 2010, she was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor. In October 2012, she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic: “Patterns of accumulation and distribution of chemical elements in living organisms of natural and anthropogenic ecosystems”. In 2002, she completed a course on the program "Sustainable Human Development" in Moscow, receiving a certificate. In 2005, she graduated from the “Open World” program in the USA, also receiving a certificate. From 2007 to 2010, she obtained certificates from Paris-Sud University (France), confirming her right to teach courses in the dual-degree program and participate in internships. From 2005 to 2007, she received certificates from Tomsk Polytechnic University for level 2 proficiency in German and English. In 2010, she became a laureate of the Tomsk region competition in the fields of education, science, healthcare, and culture, and in 2011, she received the Rosgeo award. She began her professional career in 1991 as a biology and ecology teacher at a school in the village of Cheti, Tomsk region, where she worked until 1999. From 2001 to 2002, she worked as an assistant at the Department of Ore Geology and Geochemistry of Rare Elements at Tomsk Polytechnic University. From 2002 to 2004, she was a senior lecturer at the Department of Geoecology and Geochemistry at the same university. From 2004 to 2012, she served as an associate professor at the Department of Geoecology and Geochemistry of Tomsk Polytechnic University. Since 2012, she has been a professor at the same department. She holds a patent and is a leader and participant in grants from the Ministry of Education and Science, the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, and was the head of the Federal Target Program (2011–2013).

The number of published works exceeds 160, including 56 articles in Russian and international journals, 34 of which were published in the last 3 years. The works have been supported by grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR), the Ministry of Education, and the Russian Science Foundation (RSF). Under her scientific supervision, 10 candidate theses and 1 doctoral dissertation have been defended, including under joint supervision (France, Kazakhstan). Currently, she supervises 6 PhD students in "Geoecology".

Natalya Vladimirovna Baranovskaya is the developer of the course programs: "General Ecology", "Geourbanistics and Population Geography", "Geochemistry", "Geochemical Monitoring of Natural Environments", "Professional Foreign Language", "Medical Geology", "Geochemistry of Living Organisms", and "Current Issues in Ecology and Nature Management".She is a scientific supervisor for bachelor’s and master’s theses and coursework projects at TPU, including within the double-degree program between TPU and France, as well as for international students from China, Vietnam, Mongolia and Kazakhstan.She also serves as a foreign consultant for doctoral students at the Department of Mining, Construction and Ecology of Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau University.Author of 12 textbooks, she heads the master's program in direction 05.04.06 "Ecology and Nature Management" at TPU.
