Shokan Ualikhanov Kokshetau University Celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the Art and Graphic Specialization
Shokan Ualikhanov Kokshetau University held an official event to mark the 40th anniversary of the Art and Graphic specialization. The event was attended by faculty members, alumni from different graduating years, students, and invited guests.
The Rector of the University, Marat Syrlybayev, addressed the participants and presented letters of appreciation to veterans of the Art and Graphic field. He noted that the educational program “Artistic Labor and Project Graphics” ranked first in the annual ranking of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He also highlighted that students of the “Design and Computer Graphics” program regularly win prize places at national design competitions.
The event featured presentations on the history and development of the Art and Graphic specialization. It was noted that in 1991, as the program expanded, the university established departments of Technical Drawing, Decorative and Applied Arts, and Painting. Since 2021, these areas have been integrated into the Department of Creativity and Sports.
Today, the Department of Creativity and Sports is equipped with modern studios for drawing, painting, composition, and sculpture, as well as workshops for decorative and applied arts and sewing, computer labs, and plaster and still-life collections.
Reflections on the early years of the specialization were shared by K.I. Kambarov, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and one of the founders of the department; Tolebay Sheryazdanov, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture and Design at S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University; and Tatyana Kovalenok, one of the first instructors of the Art and Graphic specialization.
As part of the program, alumni from different years participated in a sketching contest. The “Alumni Stories” segment highlighted prominent graduates, including Manarbek Burmaganov, Adilbek Gabdullin, Kanat Zhunusov, Alexander Trofimov-Cherny, Vladimir Bystritsky, Duzhan Magzumov, and others.
On the same day, the university opened an exhibition showcasing painting and graphic works by graduates of the Art and Graphic specialization from different years.
