Neurolinguistics Expert Svetlana Malyutina Leads Seminar at Ualikhanov University

On September 14 - 15, Ualikhanov University hosted a training seminar on “Assessment and Interpretation of Neuropsychological (Behavioral) Tests.” The seminar was led by Svetlana Malyutina, PhD, Deputy Director of the Centre for Language and Brain at HSE University (Russian Federation).

The seminar brought together faculty members, researchers, undergraduate and graduate students, and doctoral students of Ualikhanov University. The program focused on methods of neuropsychological assessment and interpretation of results, ethical considerations in research, and specific approaches to working with older participants.

As part of the program, Dr. Malyutina delivered a lecture on research into cognitive functioning in older adults. During the practical session, she demonstrated the full assessment process, followed by hands-on work in which participants practiced administering tests, completing assessment forms, and recording results.

On the second day, participants continued their practical training, focusing on consistency in assessment, reducing subjectivity when interpreting borderline responses, entering results into an electronic database, and ensuring data quality and initial validation.

During her visit, Dr. Malyutina also met with the university leadership to discuss the outcomes of the seminar, prospects for further interuniversity research cooperation, and opportunities for future joint research initiatives.
