Ualikhanov University Students Win Medals at World Championships

From October 26 to November 1, 2026, the UIPM Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run World Championships took place in Funchal, on the Portuguese island of Madeira, under the auspices of the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM).

Students from Ualikhanov University proudly represented Kazakhstan on the international stage, bringing home gold, silver and bronze medals.

Almas Savet, a second-year student and Master of Sport in triathlon, became a two-time world champion, winning gold in the team biathle event and the junior laser run competition. Competing alongside university alumni Maxim Shmulich and Temirlan Temirov, he secured the team gold medal in biathle. Almas also added a bronze medal to his achievements.

Anel Issabayeva, a second-year student and Master of Sport in triathlon, claimed a silver medal in the individual women's biathle event.

Yuliana Petrova, a second-year student and Master of Sport in triathlon, earned three bronze medals at the championships.

The athletes have already built impressive records in international competitions. In 2024, Almas Savet won the Central Asian Triathlon Championships, while Anel Issabayeva and Yuliana Petrova have previously claimed multiple world titles in biathle and triathle, as well as medals at Asian and national championships.

These outstanding results highlight the dedication, talent and competitive strength of Kazakhstan's young athletes on the world stage.
