Ualikhanov University Hosts Strategic Session “University - Business: From Technological Challenges to Collaborative Projects”

Today, Ualikhanov University hosted the strategic session “University - Business: From Technological Challenges to Collaborative Projects,” organized by the University’s Department of Innovation. The event brought together representatives of academia, industry, business, and government to discuss pressing technological challenges and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

The session welcomed representatives of government agencies of the Akmola Region, leading industrial enterprises, including JSC Tynys, JSC Altyntau Kokshetau, JSC Stepnogorsk Bearing Plant, JSC Kokshetau Mineral Waters, JSC Kokshetaugeologia, JSC Aidabul Distillery, Semizbay-U LLP, Hormolzavod LLP, and other companies, alongside researchers, scientists, and experts from Ualikhanov University.

Opening remarks were delivered by Zhaylagul Sagyndykova, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Infrastructure Development at Ualikhanov University; Gulmira Sabirova, Deputy Head of the Internal Policy Department of the Akmola Region; Yermek Tushanov, Deputy Head of the Entrepreneurship and Industry Department of the Akmola Region; and Yerkanat Musylmanbek, Director of the Atameken Regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs for the Akmola Region.

The session was moderated by Saya Zhaparova, Head of the Department of Innovation at Ualikhanov University, Candidate of Technical Sciences, and Associate Professor.

The primary objective of the strategic session was to identify the most pressing technological and production-related challenges faced by regional enterprises, develop technical specifications for future research and development initiatives, and strengthen long-term cooperation between the University and industry.

Participants worked across several thematic tracks, including mechanical engineering and manufacturing, mining, industrial technologies and energy, as well as food production and environmental solutions. Through collaborative discussions, participants identified key industry challenges and developed proposals that could serve as the foundation for future joint research, engineering, and innovation projects.

The session also showcased the University’s scientific and innovation potential while highlighting new approaches to strengthening collaboration between science and industry. Such initiatives create opportunities to transform research outcomes into practical solutions that directly address the needs of businesses and contribute to regional economic growth.
