The second phase of Kazakhstan’s national AI-SANA program, launched on April 15, 2026, officially concluded on June 30, 2026.
Marking this milestone, Ualikhanov University welcomed Professor Yoo Taek Lee of Woosong University (Republic of Korea) - Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and one of the developers of the AI-SANA educational curriculum. His visit coincided symbolically with the completion of Phase II, underscoring the growing impact of the initiative on Kazakhstan’s higher education system.
During his visit, Professor Lee held a dedicated meeting with the university’s AI-SANA coordinators, where he discussed the strategic vision behind the program, its significance for students and universities, and the critical role of artificial intelligence in preparing a future-ready workforce and strengthening the country's innovation ecosystem.
The professor is also meeting with students and university leadership while delivering a series of seminars for faculty members on emerging AI technologies and their integration into higher education. Ualikhanov University is actively implementing the national AI-SANA initiative, which aims to develop competencies in artificial intelligence, technological entrepreneurship, and innovation among students and faculty.
Throughout the 2025-2026 academic year, the University established a comprehensive ecosystem to support AI-driven innovation and student entrepreneurship. Multiple AI startup competitions were held, attracting dozens of student teams with projects spanning education, agriculture, healthcare, public administration, construction, social services, and other sectors. The most promising ideas received university grant funding, enabling teams to further develop their solutions and prepare for acceleration and commercialization.
For Ualikhanov University, AI-SANA is more than an educational initiative. It is a strategic investment in building a regional center of excellence that brings together education, research, technological entrepreneurship, and innovation. By nurturing highly skilled AI professionals, supporting startup creation, and fostering the adoption of advanced digital technologies, the University is strengthening the innovation capacity and technological competitiveness of the Akmola Region.
