From 20 to 26 May 2018, the Turkmen State Institute of Culture (Ashgabat, Turkmenistan) hosted a European Project Management Workshop in the framework of project 561553-EPP-1-2015-1-BG-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP Accessibility and Harmonisation of Higher Education in Central Asia through Modernisation and Curriculum Development (ACADEMICA).


On the first working day on 22 May 2018, an official meeting of the Rector, Vice Rectors and the working group with a delegation from Bulgaria and Kazakhstan took place. The main purpose of this visit was the opening of the laboratory in the framework of the ACADEMICA project at the Turkmen State Institute of Finance. In this meeting, the representatives of the university presented the acquired equipment in the framework of the financing of the project. The first day of the visit concluded with a meeting with the teachers and students who were studying according to the modernised curricula of the project.


The coordinators from Burgas Free University (Bulgaria), representatives from KSU named after Sh. Ualikhanov and the working group of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance met during this visit and reported on project management, the procurement and installation of equipment in the universities, the discussion of educational programmes and the selection of students for the project.


On the second day, 23 May 2018, the ACADEMICA project laboratory was inaugurated at the Turkmen State Institute of Culture. In this meeting, representatives of the university familiarized with the acquired equipment and met with the teachers and students who were studying the modernised curricula of the project. As part of the visit, a meeting was held between coordinators from the Burgas Free University (Bulgaria), representatives of the KSU named after Sh. Ualikhanov and a working group from the Turkmen State Institute of Culture. During the meeting, presentations were made on project management, including the purchase and installation of equipment in the universities, discussion of educational programmes and the recruitment of students under the project.


On the third day, 24 May 2018, a meeting was held with the coordinator of the Erasmus+ National Office in Turkmenistan, Aina Choreklieva. During the meeting, further prospects for cooperation in future European programmes as well as the writing of joint projects were discussed.


At the end of the working days, the Project Coordinator Maria Monova-Zheleva summarised the results of the meeting.
