History of the Chair
Department of History, Geography and Social and Humanitarian Disciplines of Kokshetau University. Sh. Ualikhanov was founded in 1993 on the basis of the Department of History of the CPSU, which had functioned since 1975. In 1991, after the acquisition of state independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Department of the History of the CPSU was transformed into the Department of the History of Kazakhstan. A great contribution to the formation and development of the department was made by the first head - Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Kadyrzhan Kabidenuly Abuev.
In 2015, the Department of History of Kazakhstan was renamed the Department of National History and the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. Since 2018, the Department of Patriotic History and "Rukhani Zhangyru". In 2021, the Department of National History and "Rukhani Zhangyru" was merged with the Department of General History and Social and Humanitarian Disciplines and acquired a new name of the Department of History of Kazakhstan and "Rukhani Zhangyru". In 2023 year the head of the department was appointed candidate of historical sciences, associate professor Utegenov Marat Zennetovich.
The department teaches the course of the history of Kazakhstan, philosophy, sociology, political science in all institutes and schools of the university, and also participates in the preparation of bachelors, masters and doctoral students in history, bachelors in theology.
Under the leadership of the teaching staff of the department, Ph.D., acting. Professor Seytkasymova A.A., Ph.D., Acting Professor Bekseitova A.T., Ph.D., Associate Professor Utegenov M.Z., Ph.D. Associate Professor Kushpaeva A.B. A scientific project was implemented, financed by the akimat of the Akmola region.
Project name: “Scientific research work and policy-legal assessment of archival and other documents related to the repressions of the 1920-1950s”
Project implementation period: 12.08.2021 – 01.12.2023.
By the decision of the Accreditation Council of the Independent Agency forAccreditation and Rating (IAAR), educational programs 7M02201-History andsocio-religious sciences (master's degree), 8D02201-History (doctorate) areaccredited for a period of 5 years.
